El ciclista australiano Caleb Ewan (Lotto) se impuso el jueves al esprint en la primera etapa de la Vuelta a Alemania, en la que el italiano Filippo Ganna (Ineos) sigue al frente de la clasificación general gracias a su victoria en el prólogo la víspera.
Ewan superó al esprint al italiano Jonathan Milan (Bahrain) y al alemán Max Kanter (Movistar) al término de esta etapa de 171 kilómetros entre Weimar y Meiningen.
